HOLIDAYMAKERS are being warned of severe delays traveling on the M5.

The Wrest country area, including South Gloucestershire, Somerset and in to North Devon, is currently is experiencing severe delays in both directions.

Holidaymakers looking to leave Dorset or trying to head into the county on their summer holidays are currently facing long delays - with some on Twitter saying they have been stuck in jams for 15miles.

The Highways Agency said this is due to the volume of traffic currently heading both to and from the South West region.

A spokesman said: "Road users intending on using the M5 in this region are encouraged to allow plenty of extra time for their journey and to consider having refreshments with you in your vehicle. If possible please consider delaying your journey until traffic volumes have reduced.

Road users heading south bound for Cornwall via the A30 should also be aware that there are long delays on the A30 around the Bodmin area."
