A POST Office will close next week in order for extensive refurbishments to take place.

The Lyme Regis Post Office branch along Broad Street will shut its doors on Wednesday (9) - before unveiling new-look premises on Wednesday, March 23.

While the branch is closed, customers can use Uplyme Post Office and Charmouth Post Office.

William McGowan has taken over from long-serving postmaster Les Gilbert - and is carrying out a refurbishment of the branch.

Alan Ridoutt, Post Office area manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

"We are confident that this vibrant new-style post office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”

The branch will close at 5.30pm on Wednesday (9). The branch is currently open from 8.30am until 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday and it closed on Sundays. For more information, please visit postoffice.co.uk
