WEST Dorset residents will be in receipt of new bins as part of the Recycle for Dorset roll-out within the next two months.

Containers may be delivered any time between mid August and early October, ahead of the starting week, beginning Monday October 19.

Residents do not need to be at home when containers arrive but should take them onto the property to store until the new service starts.

Dorset Waste Partnership asks residents not fill the containers until the current collection service ends. New containers put out for collection before October 19 will not be emptied because the current vehicles are not able to empty them.

A new collection calendar will be posted separately near the start of October.

Most households will receive: A 240-litre black wheelie bin with a green lid for recycling

A 140-litre black wheelie bin for rubbish

A 23-litre brown food waste bin and a 7-litre kitchen caddy (delivered inside the larger brown bin)

A reusable red bag for batteries, delivered inside the information pack Residents should keep their existing recycling box to use to recycle glass bottles and jars.

Properties that cannot use wheelie bins will receive a year’s supply of blue sacks for rubbish and two additional boxes for recycling, as well as the food waste containers.

In coastal areas, these properties will also receive a free seagull-proof bag to put their blue sacks inside for collection.

New communal bins for flats and other shared accommodation will be delivered in early October.

This is the fifth and final phase of the introduction of the Recycle for Dorset service, affecting around 20,000 properties.

When complete, the Recycle for Dorset service will be provided to nearly 200,000 households across Dorset. For information about bin deliveries and an online form to report any problems, visit dorsetforyou.com/recyclefordorset/delivery.
