FUNDRAISING fever gripped schools across West Dorset as they raised money for Children in Need.

Superheroes were the fancy dress theme of the day for a number of schools including St Michael's school in Lyme Regis, St Mary's school in Bridport, Bridport primary, Mountjoy school and St Mary's in Beaminster.

Non uniform days were also on the cards and Powerstock School had a fancy dress theme of 'all things bright and beautiful' and a colours quiz raising £55.

Students at Bridport primary took centre stage at a talent show while four teachers braved ice bucket challenges.

Salway Ash school had a spots and stripes fancy dress theme.

Teachers at Beaminster school were given their just desserts with cream pie throwing, and the school also held a beat the goalie competition and a bush tucker trial.

Students and staff at Loders primary school held their superhero fancy dress fundraiser on Wednesday and raised £65.

Cooks at St Mary's school in Bridport helped by baking Pudsey biscuits which were decorated by pupils and served at lunchtime.

Bingo, a teddy bear picnic and a cake sale were part of the plan for Parrett and Axe primary school in Mosterton raising £90.

Mountjoy school in Bridport raised £200 by holding a silent auction and the children dressed in fancy dress.

Staff and children at Loders primary school dressed up as their favourite superheroes on Wednesday raising £65.

Children at Symondsbury primary school took part in a pyjama day and listened to a range of stories with their teachers.

Charmouth primary school held a special assembly on Thursday talking about the importance of Children in Need.

Children brought in their small change on Friday and designed their own pudsey bear posters and cards.

All schools across West Dorset helped raise a total of £32.6 million nationally for Children In Need this year.
