Jurassic Coast Trust wants volunteers to assist in fundraising activities in Bridport, Burton Bradstock and Abbotsbury as part of a wider regional campaign.

The fundraising activities would entail selling pin badges shaped as ammonite fossils, for a minimum donation of £1 each, through a network of outlets in Dorset and East Devon.

The money raised will go to trust activities in supporting education, conservation, and public engagement projects along the length of the Jurassic Coast.

The trust’s vice chairman Alex O’Dwyer said: “The Jurassic Coast Trust is a small charity but with a big job to do along this amazing 95-mile World Heritage Site coastline.

“We are totally dependent upon fundraising and upon the efforts of volunteers who love our coastline and want to give something back.

“If you can help us raise money through our ammonite badges, you will be playing an important part in supporting the Jurassic Coast and we would be thrilled for you to join our team.”

Volunteers will be able to access training about the fascinating science and history of the Jurassic Coast as part of their role.

“There are also opportunities for volunteers to create and run their own trust-supported projects if they wish.”

Current badge distributor Gina Harper said: “I do the badges here in Lyme because I love the coastline. It works especially well for me because I am free to choose when I work, having no set days or hours.

“I like the total flexibility and the ownership of the role here in Lyme.”
