BRIDPORT: Bridport will have its own radio station BridportFM.

The station can be heard on 87.7Fm or online at bridport-arts.com/bridport-fm From Monday to Friday, between 10am and 11am from Sepember 15, there will be the hour-long magazine style show, ‘Good Morning Bridport’, with music, interviews and local news. A variety of local themes will be discussed – from education to housing, charity shops to book groups.

Margie Barbour, the presenter, said: “While I am sharing a coffee with these lively local community members in the studio I am hoping for texts and emails from the audience to contribute to the debate.

“They can also send me requests to wish someone happy birthday, or for anniversary wishes or just to mention a friend.”

From September 15, text 60777 to send your comment or request.

Texts must start with the word Bridport.

The audience can also email radio@bridport-arts.com with requests.

Part of each morning’s show will be a short programme for young children called The Busy Boz Show.

Julie Wood, Rowan Beecham and Chris Savory, playing Boz the bear, recorded the programme at Steve Jones’s studios, and he deftly mixed the songs, jokes, rhymes and stories together.

Julie and Rowan perform as The Barebulb Theatre company for young people, and recently had a performance at Loders Primary of a play written and produced by Julie Wood.

Declan Duffy was involved in the development of the programme and the opening and closing music was especially composed by Drew Warner.

The programmes were written by Margie, who started her career in television writing and directing PlaySchool and then Jackanory.

The bear, Boz, who is a central character in The Busy Boz Show, was developed for ‘The Bear Behind’ an award-winning BBC children’s programme.

Each programme offers children listening an opportunity to engage in a creative activity and what is needed for each of these will be shown on the BridportFM website and on The Busy Boz Show Facebook page.

The audience can post directly on to the facebook page or any pictures or creations brought in to the arts centre will be photographed and put on the website.
