HUNDREDS of music-lovers enjoyed a day of live tunes at the B Sharp festival.

Scores of fans flocked to Theatre Square in Lyme Regis to see local and regional acts in the Big Mix Youth Music Festival.

Young musicians showcased their talents at the open air festival on Saturday (J6) after months of music-making workshops.

B Sharp director Fran Williams said the annual event was the ‘biggest and best ever’.

Fran said: “It went incredibly well, it was an explosion of music, people and sunshine.

“A lot of people were there and it was the biggest and best ever.

“It was really something quite wow.

“Everyone came along for the live music, there were probably at least 1,500 people who came through.”

The festival was part of B Sharp’s Big Mix project, a year-long project based at The Hub for young musicians and young music leaders to get guidance to develop their skills.

Fran said: “There was ten hours of music-making, we kicked off at 1pm.

“It changed from families and small children in the day to more young people as the evening progressed.

“The acts were really great and made it a fantastic event.

“It’s the second time B Sharp has held an event at this location outside the Marine Theatre and it won’t be the last.”

Big Mix also includes the young leadership scheme, where trainees help develop and deliver music activities.

The project was funded by Youth Music, West Dorset District Council and Lyme Regis Town Council, and has recently received funding for equipment from Candles on the Cobb and Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival Committee.
