AFFORDABLE housing applicants missed out on bidding for homes in Uplyme because the wrong deadline was advertised.

People with a local connection were invited to bid for one of eight new homes off Lyme Road built by the Guinness Trust.

Applicants had to register with Devon Home Choice to put in a bid but some have missed out following a ‘miscommunication' between the housing association and parish clerk Lois Wakeman.

Mrs Wakeman said: “There was confusion over the advertised dates for the affordable housing in Uplyme, as a result of which a small number of people did not bid on the Devon Home Choice website in time.

“To allow people with Uplyme connections to have a chance of applying if they missed out in January, the bidding will therefore be open again from 12am on Wednesday, February 6 and will close at 11.59pm on Monday, February 11.

“People who applied via the first advert need not apply again, and all the applications (of which there are already over 90) will be considered together, regardless of the date of application.
