THE director of an anti-Brexit film is visiting Lyme for a special event.
On Thursday, August 30 at the Marine Theatre in Lyme, there will be a screening and Q&A with film director David Wilkinson and writer Emlyn Price. The event will be chaired by Anthea Simmons, Devon For Europe.
Postcards From The 48% is a film made by and featuring those who voted Remain in the UK’s EU Referendum vote, to show the other 27 EU Member States that they believe it was far from a landslide victory.
It states the case for why they are fighting to stay part of the EU. The film argues that despite both sides having been widely accused of relying on partial information, neither side presented precise information. It concludes that voters used personal emotion or partially informed preference as a basis for voting.
It stars Joan Bakewell, Catherine Bearder, Vince Cable, Ruth Cadbury, Alastair Campbell, Rachel Clarke, Nick Clegg, Mark Constantine, Andrew Cook, Mark Durkan, Bob Geldof, AC Grayling, Bonnie Greer, Will Hutton, Rachel Johnson, Matt Kelly, Helena Kennedy, and Miriam Margolyes.
Theatre Manager Sophia Moseley said “We’re not a political organisation and we provide entertainment for people from all backgrounds. This event is open to those from both sides of the Brexit debate - and everyone who attends will have a chance to voice their opinion.”
