There's a top line-up for this year's Camp Bestival with music superstars taking to the Lulworth Castle stage next month for the Dorset festival, which celebrates its 10th birthday this year. Rob da Bank tells Joanna Davis what festival-goers can expect.

THE countdown to Camp Bestival is now underway and the full line up of who to see and when is now confirmed for the tenth birthday celebrations of the Dorset festival.

Organiser Rob da Bank says: “There’s only a few days to go until this year’s 10th birthday Camp Bestival, and now that we can reveal all the action day by day, the excitement in the da Bank household has hit fever pitch.

"Yes indeed, with the likes of Mark Ronson, All Saints and Big Fish Little Fish on Friday, Madness, School of Rock, and our old mate Mr Tumble on Saturday, and pop god Brian Wilson, Leftfield and Reginald D Hunter on Sunday, there’s loads for everyone to do."

Add in family entertainment throughout the weekend, mouth-watering food and some rather tasty cocktails and you’ve got a pop star & rock star party like no other. And if you can’t make it for the whole weekend, come and hang out for a day! I’ll see ya down the front.”

Mark Ronson will be hitting the decks for his headline set on Friday July 28.

The man behind Bruno Mars's Uptown Funk recently shared his delight at working with his “favourite rock band of all time” as he teamed up with Queens Of The Stone Age to produce their upcoming album.

The producer and DJ, who has also worked with the likes of Adele, Amy Winehouse, announced the news on Instagram as the band shared a trailer for the highly anticipated record.

He wrote: “For half a year, I’ve had to keep my mouth shut about producing the new album by my favourite rock band of all time. Cat's out the bag.”

There will be more music across the castle grounds from All Saints.

All Saints' self-titled debut album went five times platinum and produced three number one singles, including the double BRIT award-winning Never Ever which ended up selling more than 1.2 million copies in the UK. The band returned with a new album, Red Flag, and are back performing live.

Band member Melanie Blatt said: "There’s definitely a different sense about the music now. It feels like we’re comfortable with our sound. I think we’re confident, more confident than ever before. We’ve made this album ourselves: before there was always a third party or a second party, someone who would help to produce the album or put us with this person or that person, but this time the whole thing was pretty much done and then we started to look for investors or a label. That’s a little bit scary as well because it means whatever happens it’s on us."

Ray BLK, Becky Hill, The Cuban Brothers, Mexrrissey, Reverend & The Makers, T’Pau, The Blockheads, and Louis Berry. And we’ll also have a West End Kids workshop, family friendly rave action from Big Fish Little Fish and Junior Jungle.

The nutty fun on Saturday July 29 will be topped by singalong faves Madness.

Madness went on to release their much loved debut album, One Step Beyond in 1979. Almost 40 years later the band are still going strong, with latest (and 12th) album Can’t Touch Us Now heralded as one of their best.

Madness formed as the North London Invaders in 1976. The all-white band playing black music attracted a racist following in the early days. “It was very tough for us,” Suggs says. “No one can know what we went through, seeing a thousand people sieg heiling. We’d jump in the audience to try to put people off, but there came a point where it was overwhelming."

Apart from that, they say, those were wonderful days. “It was a bunch of fellas just having a whole lot of fun,” Kix says. Music seems so much more manufactured these days, he adds.

Don’t miss sets from special guest Holly Johnson, The Bootleg Beatles, Kate Nash, Alice Jemima, The Smiths Ltd, Skream and a Raindance takeover featuring Billy Daniel Bunter, Alter-8 and more. While family fun comes courtesy of a festival exclusive appearance from the cast of School of Rock – The Musical, cheeky champs Dick and Dom, CB legend Mr Tumble, plus Mister Maker, Meet the Bolds with Julian Clary & David Roberts, West End Kids and The Crumble Lady. And there will be plenty of interactive delights including the Fancy Dress Parade, the fiercely contested Pimp My Trolley competition, and highly coiffured Beard & Moustache competition.

Sunday 30th July will see our 10th Camp Bestival brought to a triumphant close by Brian Wilson presents Pet Sounds and Leftfield presents Leftism 22. There’s plenty of Pop Star shenanigans from Louisa Johnson, Right Said Fred, Los Pacaminos Ft Paul Young, Lightning Seeds, and Anne-Marie, with Big Top comedy headlined by Reginald D Hunter. Family action comes courtesy of Kidocracy, Liz Pichon & The Tom Gates Brilliant Bands & Doodle Show, Gareth P Jones: Ninja Alien Dinosaur Party, and marking our 2017 finale will be the Son Et Lumière Castle Fireworks Spectacular.

Every day across the weekend you’ll be able to enjoy a cornucopia of activities and attractions including the World’s Biggest Bouncy Castle, The Insect Circus, Folk Idol, Spinney Hollow Bushcraft, The Greatest Tent On Earth!, The Wall of Death, The Literary Institute, The Feast Collective, DJ BBQ & His BBQ Zoo, Supper Clubs, Jeff The Oyster Man, Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen, the Jam Jar Bar, The Kids’ Cookery Canopy, Samsam Bubbleman’s Gigantic Bubble Show, Holistic Massage, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Parent & Child Reiki, and lots more.
