ALBUM REVIEW
VERA LYNN 100
DAME VERA LYNN
NOT many centenarians release albums, but then again there aren't many centenarians like Dame Vera Lynn.
Released to coincide with her 100th birthday this month, Dame Vera's new album features re-orchestrated versions of her beloved songs.
And she's invited some celebrity guests to sing them with her, in We'll Meet Again her voice melds magnificently with that of Alfie Boe.
There's a moving version of Sailing – a track Dame Vera wasn't known to have recorded, featuring a stirring chorus.
Dame Vera always said she was just doing her 'job' as a singer, boosting morale through the wartime years, but in these uncertain times there is definitely still a place for her rousing vocals.
