A FESTIVE season of real variety is in store at Dorchester Arts this Christmas.

The arts organisation says there's something for everyone ranging from plays, ballet, music to a festive vocal ensemble.

It kicks of with A Christmas Carol on Friday December 9 December. But this isn’t the usual heart-warming story of Scrooge; this is A Christmas Carol with a difference. Living Spit’s production has been described as a ‘feast of festive foolery’. It is definitely not the family favourite you know, expect some silly songs and general mayhem.

Ballet Theatre’s stunning rendition of Romeo & Juliet is one not to be missed. This passionate and innovative recreation of the world’s greatest love story will be staged on on Wednesday December 14 and 15.

The celebrations continue with Jogleresa at Trinty Church. Jogleresa are a female vocal ensemble who will be performing exquisite wassails and Christmas lullabies.

However if you are looking for a good time this Christmas but not necessarily the traditional Christmas offerings, Mad Dog Mcrea on December 18 is the one for you.

Following their sell out show last year at the Corn Exchange, Mad Dog Mcrea and their famous Purple Happy Bus return to Dorchester with their infectious mix of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz and bluegrass.

There will be no carols and sleigh bells here instead expect original songs about adventure, drinking, gypsies, fairies and legless pirates!

The smash hit Frozen Sing-A-Long returns to Dorchester Arts on December 19. Come and see Anna and Elsa and sing along to your hearts content. …
