BRIDPORT’S oldest theatre the Lyric has launched a five-week fundraising campaign to reinstate its arched windows.
The target is to reach £9,850 by July 23.
The Lyric Theatre is a grade II listed building in the heart of Bridport.
Its windows are no longer fit for purpose - they are boarded up, making the building appear sad and unloved as well letting in rain and wind, making it a chilly space in the winter.
No natural light is currently able to get in to the main hall, which means daytime use burns electricity.
So the Lyric has launched a five-week campaign on Crowdfunder.co.uk, called Let There Be Light, with a target of £9,850 to reach by 23rd July.
Reinstating the windows would significantly improve the experience of everyone using the Lyric - audiences at performances, workshop participants, artists rehearsing and performing, and even neighbouring houses having a nicer view than the current boarded up windows.
