A SERIES of sessions are being held in Dorset about the impact of the upcoming ban on smoking in public.
Dorset SmokeStop, councils and Dorset Fire and Rescue Services have organised seven free business breakfasts for people to find out more about the new rules.
They are being held at venues in Dorchester, Weymouth, Christchurch, Blandford, Wareham, Sherborne and Ferndown in February and March.
Organiser Keith Williams said: "With the introduction of the ban, there are certain new requirements for businesses such as minimum signage and rules governing smoking shelters.
"With these events we hope to give local businesses the relevant information they require to stay the right side of the law come July 1."
Each session runs between 8.30am and 10.30am. The events will include presentations to keep businesses informed about what they will need to do to comply with the upcoming ban.
Every business that attends will also be offered a free on-site advice session for staff and customers who may want to quit or cut down.
Venues include the Burraton House conference centre at Poundbury in Dorchester, Weymouth and Portland Housing and Worgret Manor Hotel.
The sessions come as businesses begin to face up to the prospect of a ban from July 1. From that date the whole of the UK will be under legislation to ban smoking in public.
Any business wishing to attend the free sessions can register by calling 01305 361338 or email beat-the-ban@dorsetsmokestop.co.uk
