There appears to be a surge of interest in gardening to help fill up our time during this lockdown. Not only is it good for your health, both mentally and physically, but it may help the family budget.
Some of course do not have gardens but there are over 200 allotments in the town, about 10 per cent are vacant, derelict. or not properly used. Half a plot is probably manageable for most people.
Easter is the traditional time to plant potatoes and get the ground ready for spring planting of salad vegetables and herbs as well as beans.
An hour a day in the fresh air on your plot is sufficient and should not cause back ache.
