THROUGH the pages of your newspaper I would like to express my thanks and congratulations for the really wonderful evening on Friday, December 5 arranged by the Beaminster Christmas Lights Festival Committee.
It was a splendid evening with the Christmas market in the square hosting a wide selection of stalls selling all types of fayre, gifts, hot and cold food, bringing the town alive. Father Christmas came to the town on his sleigh and had his grotto in Lynden Way much to the delight of all the children.
The school fair in the Public Hall was extremely busy with a delightful array of stalls selling all types of Christmas gifts and fayre. Most of the local shops and businesses were open which enabled people to do some late night shopping, helping to support the businesses who are our Town throughout the year. The square was a blaze of delightful illumination and I feel sure everyone enjoyed themselves. The whole evening was so enjoyable and I know arranging events like this does take a lot of time, energy and hard work by a lot of people.
I feel it only right that thanks should be publically given to all those people involved with making the evening so successful, especially the Festival Committee for their work throughout the year in preparing and doing the groundwork, the host of volunteers which help with running the event and the traders and shops which open and make the Town what it on that evening. Congratulations on a wonderful evening and I look forward to next years’ festivities and thank you again.
