BRIDPORT have been handed a boost after The FA granted a request by the Toolstation Western League to extend their season into May.

Adam Fricker's men will now have the luxury of an extra week to fulfil at least 15 fixtures still remaining on their schedule, with the season now finishing on Saturday, May 5 as opposed to the original date of Saturday, April 28.

It is anticipated that Bridport will now see some rescheduled fixtures take place on Tuesdays, rather than Thursdays, as had been planned before the extension.

The Bees were due to play those 15 games in 39 days, but have now got 46 days to complete their campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Echosport, Toolstation Western League general secretary Andy Radford said: "You could always argue that we could do with another three weeks.

"It only affects a few clubs and it's not a massive problem, but it's a slight problem for Bridport and you can see now some of those Thursday games we can move to Tuesday, that should help them.

"It's not a situation that's ideal or that we would want, but we're in the lap of the gods when it comes to the weather."
