BOURNEMOUTH THIRDS 63

BRIDPORT 0

BRIDPORT again suffered a heavy defeat to one of the top five clubs in the league going down by 63-0 at Bournemouth.

Starting with a full side, the Blues were unable to make any impression on the home defence and, after losing a man at the start of the second half, they were overwhelmed by a superior Bournemouth side.

This result shows that clubs like Bridport do not have the resource and player depth to compete with sides in the top half of the table.

The Dorset & Wilts One South League is showing the difference in class between the top-six sides and the rest with these teams capable of running in large scores.

The Blues now find themselves in the bottom three courtesy of a 10-point deduction, five for cancelling the match against Oakmeadians and a further five, controversially the club believe for playing an unregistered player.

The player concerned was registered as a junior coach and the club believed that the proper steps had been taken to register him as a player.

Their appeal was disallowed.

With the next game at home to Swanage on Saturday, January 13, the Blues must regain the momentum and spirit they showed last week against Salisbury and also concentrate on beating the three sides they have already beaten at home in the respective away fixtures.

If they can achieve this and continue their solid home performances against Swanage and New Milton then they can survive in this league.

The morale amongst the team is good and the Christmas break will give them time to recover and be ready for the second half of the season against Swanage.
