LYME Regis are looking for payback when the Seasiders host Thorverton in Joma Devon & Exeter League Premier Division action on Saturday (3pm).

In the third game of the season, Thorverton dished out a 4-3 defeat to a Lyme side battling injuries and unavailability.

But with key players now returning, Lyme boss Julien Simier is out to avenge that result.

He told the Bridport & Lyme Regis News: “It’s not just the way we lost, losing last minute.

“We all know we underperformed massively, we’re definitely going to be up for it.

“We owe them a win and a performance. We had to find players everywhere, it was a nightmare at the start of the season.

“It was that consistency, but everyone’s coming back available so we’ve got a stronger squad.”

Simier also revealed winger Tom Bastin is to take a break from football due to rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

He said: “The chat I had with him he said he would have to give up on football, which is very sad news.

“He’s damaged his ACL in a second knee. He’s done the right knee, now he’s done the left.

“He said: ‘If I want to play football or any sport, I need to have an op.’ He said: ‘I can’t really afford time off at work’.

“He had a massive think about it and said that football is not his priority. Is he giving up completely? I don’t know.

“But for a short time he won’t play, which is sad news for him because he’s a young lad.

“He’s going to be a sad loss for the team. On and off the pitch he’s great lad.

“He’s definitely going to come and support the lads, not lose the link.

“I’m still looking for an assistant manager, I’m in no rush, so if he’s keen to come and help me and be part of the environment, I’ve already made the offer and he’s thinking about it.”

Goalkeeper Chris Higgs, left-back Callum Larcombe, midfielder Rob Fellingham and defender Kingsley Wellman are available.
