LYME Regis go into Saturday’s Joma Devon & Exeter League Premier Division at Dawlish United with an injury nightmare, according to boss Julien Simier.

The Seasiders have been ravaged by injuries and unavailabilities for key players, including star striker Joe Bond, Brad Rowe, Cam Vere and new signing Callum Garrett.

Lyme have also had to contend with numerous friendlies being cancelled due to Covid-19, plus several players out as result of coming into close contact with the virus.

Ahead of Saturday’s 3pm kick-off, Simier said of Dawlish: “It’s quite a physical side, a big pitch.

“We found it difficult last season, we really struggled.

“We went there with no keeper but that doesn’t change anything. We struggled to play our football.

“We went there with a depleted side and now we’re going to go there with another depleted side. It seems to be a pattern.

“If we come back with points, as long as we don’t lose, just for the positive mentality of the squad, it’s quite important.

“We’ll go there and fight with what we have.”

Vere (ankle) is rated as 50-50 for this Saturday as is likely not to be risked.

“Ex-Axminster midfielder Garrett has a niggling knee injury.

Bond (broken foot) has this week returned to training and is expected to take time to return to match fitness, while Rowe is unavailable for family reasons.
