WHIPTON & PINHOE 2

LYME REGIS 1

LYME Regis suffered their second 2-1 defeat of the season to up-and-coming Whipton & Pinhoe as manager Gerard Hitchcock was sent off.

The Purples saw Jamie Dingle and Liam Streat score against the Seasiders, with Fred Parsons’ strike proving insufficient to claim a point from the encounter.

Hitchcock was sent off for directing his frustrations to the referee during a contest which failed to dislodge his side from the league’s summit.

Lyme reside on 18 points but could be overtaken by each of the five teams below them owing to games in hand.

In other news at Davey Fort, a new 63-seat grandstand was this week lifted into place as part of a £140,000 development. Both dugouts will also be replaced by new mobile equivalents.

Elsewhere, Lyme’s reserve team beat Otterton 3-1 as a Ryan Fifer double, added to a Cam Fowler strike, sealed victory in the first round of the Bill Slee Cup.

In Perry Street Division Two, Lyme Rovers – the Seasiders’ third team – took third place courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Combe St Nicholas Reserves in which Cody Bowditch and Sam Burke netted.

It was a different story for Uplyme, who succumbed 3-1 to unbeaten Perry Street Division One side Crewkerne Rangers.

In the Perry Street Premier, Misterton endured a difficult weekend losing 4-0 at Ilminster while the Mizzy reserves drew 4-4 with Forton.
