SHAFTESBURY TOWN RES 0

LYME REGIS 3

LYME Regis won at Shaftesbury Town Reserves in the Dorset Senior Trophy to get through to the third round and set up a meeting with Portland United Reserves.

The Seasiders travelled to Cockrams and were able to comfortably seal the upset as they knocked out the Dorset Premier League side.

Lyme took the lead after a tough first half an hour on 36 minutes when Chris Herbst netted.

The away side then struck again to give themselves a half-time cushion when Fred Parsons finished well

The Rockies failed to reduce the deficit and Sam Day added gloss to the scoreline in the last minute with a great strike.

This weekend, Lyme face University of Exeter Seconds, who beat them 4-1 at home last time out with Parsons getting the only goal for Lyme.

Lyme are without a league win since their 5-2 win away at Bickleigh at the end of September, while Exeter are currently on a four-match winning streak.

Their opponents sit in second in the Devon & Exeter Division One table, one place and one point above the Seasiders having played a game less.
