Under-16 County Cup final
DEXTER SPORTS 1
BRIDPORT YOUTH 2
BRIDPORT beat Dexter Sports to land the County Cup.
Having reached the final the two years previously and both times ending runners-up, the Bridport side made it third time lucky on this occasion.
Bridport rode the initial storm of the tough-tackling Dexters, and soon took the lead from a trademark back-heel from Samuel Handyside.
Bridport should have increased their lead but Dexters were awarded a goal when Bridport keeper Jordon Scadding pulled off a sharp save, forcing the ball against a post and seemingly flicking it out, but the ball was deemed to have crossed the line.
The second half saw Bridport up the tempo and built attack after attack and finally got what proved to be the winner.
Cody Bowditch received the ball in his own half before unleashing a left-footed wonder strike which looped high over the stranded Dexters’ keeper into the top corner.
That meant Bridport had wiped out their previous cup heartache.
