There was a feast of goals for followers of Uplyme Football Club to celebrate last weekend with the club’s two sides hitting a total of seventeen goals and conceding only one.
In Division Four, the first team mauled local rivals Colyton Seconds 12-1 at home while the Reserve side beat Winsham United 5-0 in Division Two of the Perry Street and District League.
The first team’s initial league win of the season and improved goal difference propelled them up to sixth place in the table, while the second string now lead their section after winning three league games out of four so far this season.
James Gunstone hit four of the goals against Colyton and others on target were Matt Young (2), Josh Frewin (2), Freddie Bennett, Daley Holmes, Alex Saunders and Finn McLean.
Netting the goals at Winsham were James Beddows, Matt Nichol, Brad Bowditch and new signing George Gibbs. There was also an own goal.
First team manager Steve Gillan told the News: “It was great to see a six-point Saturday for the club. Both teams controlled their respective games and there was plenty to go on the scoresheet.
“There are some very tough games ahead so I’m hoping we have our strongest squads out, which has been a challenge so far,” he added.
On Saturday Uplyme entertain top of the table Morchard Bishop at 3pm, whilst the reserves travel to Ilminister Town A.
