FORMER Wycombe Wanderers midfielder Dominic Gape is reportedly training with League Two giants Stockport County.

The 28-year-old has become a free agent following his departure from the Chairboys this summer, where he played 204 games and scored four times across a seven-year period.

However, persistent injuries saw the ex-Southampton man make just 48 appearances across the last three seasons.

He has struggled with injuries in recent years but scored a stunning 40-yard lob early in the 2022/23 season as Wycombe beat Barnsley 3-0 away.

Gape has been strongly linked to a reunion with ex-Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth at QPR this summer.

But Burton Bradstock-born Gape is expected to sign a deal with the Hatters as he has joined Paul Cook's side on a pre-season tour in Spain.

Stockport narrowly missed out on promotion to League One in the previous campaign, as they were defeated by Carlisle United in the League Two play-off finalย on penalties.
