DORSET dynamo Dominic Gape is one of five Wycombe Wanderers players mulling over new contracts this summer.

Burton Bradstock ace Gape’s existing deal ended last season, a campaign in which he struggled with injury and played just ten Sky Bet League One games for the Chairboys.

Gape, 27, enjoyed a total of just 626 minutes on the pitch, making one assist, according to statistics from FotMob.

The central midfielder played 75 minutes of his side’s 2-0 play-off final defeat to Sunderland and was replaced by Ade Akinfenwa, who later retired from the game aged 40.

In the season prior to that, Gape played in 14 Sky Bet Championship matches and failed to score or register an assist in 865 minutes.

Gape signed his existing deal in March 2020, with manager Gareth Ainsworth saying: “Dominic has been one of the best signings we’ve made during my time at the club and is always one of the first names on the teamsheet.

“He’s developed both as a player and a person in his four years with us, and I now see him as one of our generals because of his influence around the place and the respect he’s earned from his team-mates.

“I’m delighted that we’ve agreed this new contract with him and I believe he will continue to go from strength to strength for us in this exciting new era at the club.”

Joe Jacobson, Anthony Stewart, Lewis Wing and David Stockdale are the other Wycombe players thinking over new deals.

The new League One campaign begins on the weekend of Saturday, July 30.
