BRIDPORT manager Rob Marquis has challenged his Bees side to show more “desire” than Bridgwater United tonight (7.45pm).

Marquis was stunned on the sidelines as Toolstation Western League Premier Division leaders Bitton took an 8-1 victory on Saturday.

Bridport return to St Mary’s Field this evening against big-spending Bridgwater, who are backed by former Bournemouth chief-executive Adam Murry.

Quizzed on what he wants to see from his young Bees side, Marquis told Echosport: “Desire, put a shift in.

“If we went out and put in 100 per cent and got beaten by the better team, you put your hands up. You’re the bigger men for having a go.

“It’s easy to run away and be big fish in a little pond. Some of these players could go and play in a better league and have success.

“It’s a bigger man that challenges himself. I’d like to see desire and application.”

Jake Owen (groin) and Malakai Stanners are doubtful but Ezra Osei-Kumi is expected to be fit.
