BEAMINSTER captain Ross Baker is relishing the prospect of hosting Compton House at the Memorial Ground in County Division One action on Saturday (1.30pm).
Baker’s men suffered an 85-run loss to fellow promoted team Witchampton on the opening day, before rain scuppered their clash with Marnhull.
After the enforced two-week break between games, Baker is eager to resume against a side based near Sherborne.
Baker said: “We always enjoy playing Compton House, they’re a good bunch. When we were in Division One previously that was always the fixture we looked forward to.
“They play in the right spirit. They’re a competitive side but also good lads off the field.
“I particularly know Mike Harper – I’ve lived in the same village as him. He’s still doing the business, opening the bowling as well as the batting. He’s a key player for them.”
Beaminster are without Dan Hillier (unavailable) and will make a late call on selection.
Beaminster: Baker, Spiller, Jones, Park, A Moss, W Moss, Bareham, Hollely, Edmunds, Everitt, AN Other.
