LYME REGIS 9

DAWLISH UNITED 0

LYME Regis were in ruthless form as the Seasiders swept away Dawlish United 9-0 on their return to Davey Fort.

Tyler Wellman’s first-minute bullet header gave Lyme the perfect start to their Devon & Exeter League Premier East clash.

Fred Parsons weighed in with a double before Joe Bond completed his 25th hat-trick for the Seasiders either side of half-time to make it 6-0.

Joint-boss Mark Bailey grabbed a goal and Bond’s replacement, Brad Rowe, notched a late brace to seal the rout.

Post-match, Bailey said: “It was good to get back on track.

“Everyone showed up – they blew them away in the first 15 minutes. They had a lot more belief and confidence and it showed.

“We played some lovely football and if we play like that not many are going to be able to deal with us.”

On Bond’s latest treble, he added: “He’s phenomenal It’s his work rate as much as his goalscoring. He does so much for the team.

“It’s not just about goals with Joe – that’s what makes him stand out.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s derby at Seaton, fellow joint-boss Julien Simier said: “If we don’t play with the right mentality we will struggle.

“Against Dawlish we started with the right mentality and the football followed. If we do that, we’ll have a great season.”

Lyme’s Rikki Sargent is out with injury, while Ben Turner could play for Lyme’s reserves after sitting out a three-match ban.
