BRIDPORT assistant boss Kevin Leigh believes there are encouraging signs for the Bees as they prepare to host Chipping Sodbury on Saturday (3pm).

Jamie Manley’s side has been boosted by the signings of several new recruits this summer.

However, their additions meant time was needed for the squad to gel.

Positive results have finally come as the Bees defeated St Austell 4-3 in the Vase on September 19, followed by an impressive 2-0 win over Bridgwater four days later.

That winning run was ended by a 4-1 loss at Odd Down, but Bridport remain positive.

Leigh believes a bolstered strike force has been key to an upturn in fortunes as Bridport host winless Chipping Sodbury in Toolstation Western League Premier Division action.

He told the Bridport News: “We have started to play as a team, get the ball down and attack.

“That does come with having players up front that can score goals and create.

“Kris Hastings can create and Liam Sayers is a very, very good player.

“He can take people on, create space for other people and put passes in for people to score goals. That’s always good.

“All the top sides will give you a hard game.

“If you get something out of the game when you’re going to places like Plymouth Parkway, Buckland then you’ve done very well.”

Bridport Reserves, meanwhile, visit Balti in Dorset Senior Trophy action.
