DRIMPTON 3
MERRIOTT SAINTS 0
DRIMPTON delivered a well controlled performance to maintain their unbeaten start to the Perry Street and District League Division Three season.
A fluent team goal finished off by Frank Symonds after 20 minutes calmed any early nerves and they were settled when Phil Hussey’s clinical finish from the edge of the box ensured a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Merriott showed some improvement in the second half but rarely troubled the Greens’ back line.
Drimpton put the result beyond any doubt with 20 minutes remaining after Hussey turned home from close range after being played in by John Kingston.
Delighted Greens’ manager Andy Loudon said: “More pleased with that result than last week’s. We were rarely troubled and I thought we controlled the game well. We didn’t really get into third gear but we didn’t really need to.
“It was an all-round competent performance which I hope to take into our next game at Crewkerne.
“Ryan Gay and Rob Wayland had solid games at the back for the Greens.”
