WEYMOUTH manager Brian Stock declared his satisfaction with the Terras’ pre-season efforts – despite a 1-0 loss to Ebbsfleet on Saturday.
Stock has led Weymouth to four wins in six warm-up games, plus a creditable 1-1 draw with League Two side Exeter.
While Weymouth’s solid form bodes well for their National League opener at Altrincham this Saturday (3pm), Stock observed areas for improvement following Saturday’s defeat.
“It’s been a really good pre-season,” he said. “To come in at the time I did and we’ve played six games and lost one, won four and drawn one.
“It’s not about the results, it’s about understanding the team, how we want to play, approach games and a plan B – that didn’t come off (against Ebbsfleet) so I’m disappointed on that.
“The first-half performance we probably had enough chances to win the game and shut up shop.
“We’re going to be facing that this year and we need to be strong, resilient.
“At times in the second half we were a little bit lackadaisical in terms of going forward and not locking the back door.
“We were suspect to quite a lot of counter-attacks which wasn’t pleasing to see.”
