BRIDPORT were finally awarded the Dorset & Wilts Two South league shield after a victorious 2019/20 season.

First-team captain Mitch Waters collected the silverware with senior coach Ayo Fraser and team manager Tom Gamwell.

The Blues were also due to receive February’s Dorset & Wilts Wadsworth League Team of the Month for February in recognition of their excellent play.

Due to Covid-19, that presentation was delayed but Bridport hope it can soon be awarded to mark the first time they have won the accolade.

Meanwhile, the commitment of the players to maintaining their interest and fitness under the limiting conditions imposed by the RFU has been excellent.

With the RFU’s Return to Rugby Road Map currently at Stage D, allowing up to 20 players at time to partake in time limited adapted contact training as well as other non-contact activities, the opportunity for the squad to receive the shield was taken at training.

Stage D conditions also allow up to 10 players a side to play Ready4Rugby – an adapted form of touch rugby against other clubs. Bridport are investigating the possibilities of playing some matches against local sides.
