DORCHESTER Town Football Club have been supported financially by their fans after more than £5,000 was donated to an appeal for funds.

The Supporters Club set up an appeal during the coronavirus lockdown, designed to support the immediate needs of The Magpies following the loss of income due to the pandemic, and to provide financial assistance to kick start the new season.

A spokesperson for the Supporters Club said: “On behalf of the Supporters Club committee members, I would like to express our sincere thanks to all the wonderful people who have contributed to the Magpies Appeal and helped to raise a magnificent total of £5,176.

“This sum is even more appreciated because it has been achieved during a difficult time for everyone and yet people have still generously put their hand in their pocket to help out their local football club in its time of need.

“Everyone who has contributed will be formally acknowledged in a fitting manner during the coming season and hopefully it won’t be long before we can all meet up at The Avenue and start cheering for our beloved Magpies again. “In the meantime, stay safe and well everyone, and thank you so much for all your valued support.”
