DORCHESTER Town boss Leigh Robinson admitted the substitution of Tom Blair in Saturday’s 2-1 league loss to Weston-super-Mare was precautionary.

Blair was playing his first game back since completing a seven-game ban having seen three red cards and 12 yellows this season.

Blair struck the post at 1-1 and went on to pick up another yellow in the second half, with Robinson hauling the winger off as he tired late in the game.

Robinson said: “It was another key moment in the game at 1-1, he hit the post.

“If it had gone in, we’re looking at a different game – again we’re talking about if onlys.

“He did well considering the time he’s been out and the match sharpness you can lose in six weeks when you’re just training or going to the gym.

“He tightened up halfway through the second half so we thought we had to take him off – we didn’t want to.

“We’ve already missed him for seven games, which is bad enough. We didn’t want to miss him again if his hamstring went.”

Robinson added: “It was a fairly harsh yellow card as well. We just thought ‘he’s on a yellow card and he might get tired, we didn’t want to risk injury, another niggly foul and another red card.”
