UPLYME 1

WAYTOWN HOUNDS 9

IT RAINED goals at Venlake as Waytown Hounds found top gear against a youthful and spirited Uplyme, winning 9-1 in Perry Street & District Division One.

Uplyme started with the wind and slope in their favour and in a fairly closely contested first half it was the Hounds who were clinical and went in 2-0 up at the break.

Goals from Adam Cody-Boutcher and Tom Rutland gave Waytown the advantage.

Waytown kicked off the second half in some style as within seven minutes the score went from 2-0 to 5-0.

Hounds carved through the Uplyme defence as firstly Scott Williams finished off a lovely move then Jon Legg netted before Cody-Boutcher got his second of the game.

Further goals were added as Waytown were ruthless.

John Kingston found himself on the scoresheet and Cody-Boutcher found the net twice more to take his tally to four for the game.

Uplyme found a consolation through Toby Barnes before Lee Quincey scored Waytown’s ninth.

Hounds’ boss Joe Carter said: “The lads were awesome. Last three games we’ve gone in at half-time behind after battling the elements.

“(Saturday) we went in at half-time two-up against the slope and wind. I knew if we played with the same style and commitment we’d get our rewards and we rightly did.

“Boutch with four has to have a shout out from me. However, the team put in an excellent performance all over the park and I’m looking forward to the local derby versus Pymore on Saturday.”
