DORSET and Wilts Under-20s begin their Jason Leonard County Championship campaign against Somerset Under-20s at Bristol Harlequins tomorrow.

There is a lot of positive energy going on within the squad at present and co-captain Alex Peel, of Dorchester RFC, spoke about the excitement from the players.

He said: “As a team we are looking forward to the challenges ahead and we are excited to get started – this team has endless possibilities.”

Team manager Richard Rees also commented on this year’s squads, adding: “We have made some great memories already in our training camps and training games, particularly last Sunday when we battled through Storm Dennis.

“This has demonstrated the commitment and attitude of the players. We can’t wait to get on the pitch and express ourselves as players and as a squad.”

With Somerset unable to raise a side against Hampshire in round one, they will no doubt be up for this game and will be all out to win if they are to stay in the championship.

Dorset & Wilts, with a new coaching team this season led by Martyn Peel, will be looking to start his tenure as head coach with a great performance.

He said: “The coaching team and squad are excited for the possibilities ahead.

“We are prepared and have a fully-fit player pool to select from. Somerset will prove to be a tough opener but will give us a proper insight of where we are. The excitement is building.”
