WEYMOUTH Football Club has moved to reassure its fans with plans for 170 homes on its Bob Lucas Stadium home set to go before a planning committee meeting on Thursday.
Dorset Council councillors are being recommended to approve of the housing scheme details.
However, the key sticking point is the provision of a new stadium.
In a statement on the club’s website, Weymouth’s board of directors said: “We would remind our shareholders and supporters that WFC and WCSLLP (Weymouth Community Sports LLP) have both entered into a legally binding option agreement.
“The primary clause of which is that no development of the Bob Lucas Stadium site can be commenced until the club has a new, fully functioning stadium to move into.”
On the pitch, Weymouth have excelled in their first season back in the Vanarama National League South for nine years, currently lying fourth.
