BRIDPORT RFC’s junior section was pleased to welcome former player Ethan Staddon to their Sunday morning session.

Staddon started at Bridport with TAG and then played at all levels up to under-13s before moving to Dorchester and gaining county honours at Colts level.

He then moved to Bath and was selected for the club’s academy. Staddon was called up for England under-18 trials resulting in a place on the under-18s tour of South Africa in August where he gained his first England cap.

He is currently playing at Bath and would like to sign a professional contract with the Premiership side.

On arrival at the club, he gave a short presentation and then moved around the various age groups with tips and suggestions for the players and coaches before giving a pre-match pep-talk to the under-16s before their 36-10 loss to Sidmouth.

Sadly, for the first team on Saturday, Swanage and Wareham had to concede the match resulting in a home walkover and five points to the Blues.

However, in a sign of the commitment of the players to the team, 25 turned up for an inter-club match which was played in a competitive spirit and enabled them to practice some moves before the vital away match at second-placed Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew on Saturday.
