JAMIE Manley believes the next step for his Bridport side is to “grind out results” amid the Bees’ improving Toolstation Western League Premier Division form.

Manley’s men host sixth-placed Exmouth Town on Saturday (3pm) at St Mary’s Field.

Bridport, in 18th, have shipped nine goals twice this season but, while better displays have been produced, results have not followed, with a 2-0 win over Cadbury Heath the Bees’ only victory in eight games.

Speaking to the Bridport News, Manley said: “It’s not going to be easy, but we’re on home soil so that should help us out a bit.

“We’re not silly, we know where we are and Exmouth are a good side. If we put in the same amount of effort when we played against Plymouth Parkway, and cut out the mistakes, we can get something out of the game.

“We’ve been gradually getting better as the weeks are going on, so that’s pleasing.

“Now, it’s all about trying to grind out results, especially as Exmouth are at the top. We go into every game thinking we can get something out it – that’s the attitude you’ve got to take.

“The lads have shown a bit of bottle of late. They have dug in and worked really hard for one another.

“That’s half the battle. If they come off the pitch and I can see every one of them has given 100 per cent, then I’m not going to moan at them.

“That’s what I expect. If they do that, you never know, you can get a result, even though the side we’re playing against in meant to be a better side.”

Centre-back Ryan Gall misses out through unavailability.
