MARK Molesley insists Weymouth have their crosshairs locked on a trademark positive response to their 1-0 loss at Dorking ahead of a daunting trip to Hemel Hempstead tonight (7.45pm).

Under Molesley’s guidance, the Terras have made a habit of picking up points in matches following a defeat.

The former Bournemouth midfielder is hoping the trend continues in the Vanarama National League South against a seventh-placed Tudors side that have lost their past three league games.

He told Echosport: “Another really tough game awaits us, we’ve got to react quickly.

“Historically, this group always responds well and I’m sure they will. It’s never out of lack of effort or trying.

“(Dorking) was probably a lack of awareness and being a little naïve at times, but we’re a young side and will learn our lessons.

“Hopefully we’ll learn them quickly ready to put in a good performance.”

On Hemel, he added: “They’re one of the most fancied teams in the league, you can see that with their intent in the summer and their recruitment.

“They have a young management team there as well, who’ve done good things in the game.

“They’re a top team with top players, so I’m sure it’s a temporary blip in results and it just shows how difficult this league is that anyone can beat anyone.

“It gives us a great chance to bounce back against quality opposition.”

On the middle leg of a three-game week spanning 850-miles of travelling, Molesley admitted squad rotation could be key.

“We’re going to have to utilise the squad as best we can. We’re obviously disappointed we’ve got quite a few players out injured.

“We’ve got Jordan Ngalo (hamstring), Cameron Murray (shin and ankles), Andreas Robinson and Sam Sherring (both ankle).

“Four big players out at the moment but the good news is Thommo (Ben Thomson) got 60 minutes, Callum Buckley got 45 minutes into his legs.

“At this stage of the season, you’re never at full strength, these are the challenges of this league.

“We’ve got three tough away games in a row and we’ve got to embrace that challenge to bring out the best in us.

“The squad’s going to be stretched to the limit this week but we’ve got good-quality players and every single one of them I’ve got no problems with dropping in at any time.”
