GUNGHO went three points clear at the summit after edging out New Body in this top-of-the-table clash.

New Body’s shooters showed great spirit from the start, creating good space to secure an early lead.

Gungho struggled to overcome the impressive defence of New Body’s Jodie Howell (GD), who secured a series of impressive interceptions.

Gungho made some team changes to give their side renewed energy.

Improved confidence in Gungho’s attacking circle meant they were able to keep pace with New Body throughout the middle quarters.

Windy conditions made for challenging play but New Body held tight to their lead.

Final-quarter changes for Gungho saw Frankie Harris at WA, where she was instrumental in feeding balls into her shooters, allowing Gungho to close the gap significantly.

New Body’s C, Kelly Browne, provided excellent support to her attacking players but Gungho were able to creep ahead and snatch the win by one goal.

GEORGE BAR AND GRILL 44

THE George bagged the points after seeing off basement side Cresta.

Cresta was quick to apply pressure with multiple interceptions in the opening minutes.

The teams battled it out in the mid-court with strong play from both sides.

Cresta’s mid-court showed dynamic play as Carolyn Allgood (GS) dodged strategically-placed George defenders.

George responded by upping their attack to overcome tight defence from Cresta and rack up points.

Cresta started to find their rhythm in the third quarter but George soon stemmed their flow.

Superb marking from George’s Bernadette Ford (GK) limited scoring opportunities to keep her team ahead.

The final quarter saw intense mid-court play as Cs Abbie Tinsley (Cresta) and Kirsty Winning (George) battled for possession.

Although Cresta had a strong quarter, George won the match after continuously impressive play.

DIVISION ONE

TEAM WAIKIKI 30

BAY FENCING 24

TEAM Waikiki claimed a well-fought victory over Bay Fencing.

Waikiki showed strong defence with Lauren Dabbs (GD) and Sam Cowley (GK) forcing errors from Bay’s shooters.

Bay kept good control through the mid-court despite windy conditions but Waikiki edged ahead as players gave each other words of support across court.

Bay was quick to score, with an impressive circle-edge shot from GS, Jess Pym.

Smooth play in the mid-court allowed Bay to secure turnovers and lower Waikiki’s lead slightly.

Waikiki upped their defence to give Bay a bigger challenge.

Both teams came back fighting after half-time.

Bay’s C, Becky Chance, made some fantastic interceptions to stem Waikiki’s scoring flow.

Waikiki showed great energy as they defended their lead.

Bay utilised space well to secure a few goals, but ultimately it was Waikiki who claimed a fine victory.

DIVISION TWO

ARTIFEX C 17

OJOS 46

OJOS maintained their fight for the title after overcoming Artifex.

OJOS marked tightly from the start but Artifex fought well to gain possession.

Although both teams created good scoring opportunities, windy conditions made it difficult to take advantage.

OJOs settled into their game, with outstanding long-distance shooting from Mandy Grafton (GA) creating a solid lead.

Artifex showed fluid play to gain more scoring opportunities but OJOs worked hard to prevent them from taking advantage.

Artifex came back fighting after half-time, with Madison Carter (GA) showing exceptional skill to find the net.

Team changes for Artifex evened out play but OJOs maintained their lead.

OJOs pushed ahead with strong passing and precise shots.

Artifex played well through the mid-court but were unable to catch up and OJOS emerged triumphant.
