BRIDPORT & West Dorset Golf Club's men’s Sunday competition was a four-man team Texas Scramble for the inaugural Tim Woodrow Decanter, a trophy donated by his widow Lynette and family, writes Peter Crowter.

The weather was wet and windy but despite this, 16 teams turned out, a reflection on the high regard the club had for Tim.

The weather did not dampen the spirits of the participants and the event was a great success and many of the Woodrow family were in attendance.

The results were:

First: Ed Cary (6), Ben Ashton (10), Mike Huxford (19) and Ben Buckland (18) - 57.7; Second: Alistair Gibson (12), Steve Battrick (13), Phil Winton (11) and Ian Kearley (18) – 60.6; Third: Marc Harwood (9), Will Turner (19), Robert Smith (10) and Marlon Donovan (15) – 60.7.

Meanwhile, the ladies' October Medal saw Ruth Donovan (16) win in Division A with a nett 76 with Carole Brown (17) runner-up on nett 81, writes Avril Brown.

Sue Winkle (29) carded a nett 79 to triumph in Division B.

Second place went to Carole Hedley (36) with 87.

The veterans had an away match versus Wareham where Bridport won 3½- 2½.
