NEW winners were crowned after the return of the ADC League and Dorset Abilities Group mixed pairs competition.

Each ADC player was paired with a DAG member in what was a night to remember as Simon Churchill and David Lewton scooped the prize.

In a closely-contested final against Chris Burton and Josh Maguire, Churchill and Lewton triumphed 2-1.

Churchill’s heavy scoring was complemented by Lewton’s steady darts and the pairing gelled well throughout the competition.

A highlight in the final was Maguire’s winning double in the second leg gaining a big roar from the crowd.

Churchill and Lewton had beaten previous winners and favourites Mel Burton and T-Dog aka Thomas in the semi-finals as well as overcoming Paul Dormer and Rob in the first round.

Sportingly T-dog handed his trophy in a great gesture to his friends at the end of the evening.

En route to the semi-final, Mel Burton and T-Dog defeated ADC champion Andrew McDermott and his partner Toby, who proved he could throw a mean dart himself.

A highlight of the evening saw Rachael partnered with Nigel Davis who hit her first treble 20 to the delight of the entire room. They did fall to a 2-1 defeat against Mattie Betts and Ray who played some great darts on the night.

Resident photographer Si Jubb got involved in the action with him and his partner Catherine falling just short against Arnie Quinn and his partner Dan Wyatt.

Other ties on the night saw Paul Paice paired with Ami play against Terry Tucker and Harry with the former prevailing.

Shaun Lampard and JB had a great match against Stewart Masters and Alex as also did Danny Aplin and Rich against Drew Tweedy and Tim.

En route to their final, Chris Burton and Josh had a fantastic match against Scott Gannon and Robbie.

Every match was played in great spirit with the ADC and DAG cheering each other all the way.

A spokesman said: “The Dorset Ability members showed their love and passion for darts and certainly held their own with the ADC.

“This competition is now looking to be held at the end of each winter and summer ADC season such is the success. The ADC would like to thank Luke Tomlin for being involved and making this happen.”
