CLEVEDON TOWN 4

BRIDPORT 3

BRIDPORT were beaten in a seven-goal thriller at the Hand Stadium.

The Bees took the lead on 15 minutes through Joel Hewitt following a Lewis Clarke flick on.

However, it was all square five minute later after Lucas Vowles scored following a defence-splitting pass from George King.

In a frantic start to the game, Clarke restored the Bees’ lead via a penalty after 23 minutes.

However, the hosts equalised again on 52 minutes through a Jay Murray header after a great run and cross by Zach Drew.

On 63 minutes, Clevedon made a double change in a bid to take the three points with Syd Camper replacing Ethan Feltham and Morgan Williams on for Zach Drew.

And the hosts were rewarded four minutes later when they took the lead for the first time when Vowles hit a cracker for his second of the game

On 71 minutes, Clevedon’s Dan Ferguson was sent to the sin bin and the Bees profited as Hewitt hit his second to make it 3-3.

But the hosts would not lie down and regained the lead when King scored after great work by Vowles and Murray.

Bees’ boss Rich Robson said: “I’m extremely disappointed, it was a step back for us after last week’s performance at home to Brislington.

“We had to play a makeshift backline with Tom Richardson playing in the back four.

“The positive things to take from the game is that we are now scoring goals.

“Young Joel Hewitt scored a couple of goals and that will do his confidence the power of good. Ryan Leader at full-back also did well.”
