DORCHESTER Town manager Callum Brooks called for the Magpies to “start delivering in the league” ahead of a trip to Hendon in the BetVictor Southern Premier South tomorrow (3pm).

Brooks oversaw a 2-0 victory over Evesham United in the FA Cup first qualifying round on Sunday and has now tasked his side with overturning a run of four straight league losses.

Dorchester’s sole win across five games came against bottom side Beaconsfield Town and the Magpies currently sit 20th, six places and four points adrift of Hendon.

That sequence of form has strengthened Brooks’ desire to collect more points.

He told Echosport: “The excuse of needing a win to turn things around has gone.

“I’m challenging the group of players we’ve got to start delivering in the league. We need to start putting in some proper performances and clocking up some points.

“There’s a whole host of reasons, a lot of them down to us not doing some things well enough. What started out a couple of difficult games on paper ended up in a poor run.

“Now is the time, without a doubt. Some of the glimpses of the performances we’ve seen is the group I know I’ve put together.

“The group feel they should be doing a lot better. For me now it’s getting a grip of some games.

“I challenge this group of players to get the points that we expect them to get.”

Dorchester will play on a familiar 3G surface at Hendon, but boss Brooks feels the man-made turf differs to that of the Clayson Stadium’s.

He said: “Not being disrespectful to Hendon, it’s a slightly different one to ours. It’s a very hard surface.

“We’ve got a lot of mobility in our team and we are used to that type of surface. The ball moves very, very quickly but we’ve got a bank of experience playing on that and it certainly won’t be an excuse.”

Tom Purrington (ankle) remains out and Luke Winsper (foot) is a major doubt after picking up a knock in training.
