WAREHAM 165-8 (6pts) lost to DORCHESTER II 168-5 by five wickets

DORCHESTER Seconds superbly beat Wareham by six wickets away at Wareham in County Division Three to cap a fantastic day for the club, with the first team also winning the Premier Division.

Dorchester began an outside chance of promotion, requiring Sherborne Seconds to lose heavily at home to Corfe Mullen. However, with Sherborne losing and only taking four points, the county town side sealed promotion by finishing second.

Dorchester had a mountain to climb needing to win with bonus points, and they this did by picking up 19 points.

Captain Stuart Beasley put in the home side and they made things as difficult as possible for the county town hopefuls hitting a painstaking 175-8, with only three of their batsman getting into double figures.

Rohan Scott, George Foot, Nathan Quinn and Beasley all bowled well, picking up two wickets each along with the spritely Matt Porter.

Billy Baker could consider himself unlucky not to pick up a wicket showing some real pace with the ball.

Andy Vernon carried his bat throughout in reply for Dorchester hitting 60 runs and was assisted by Rhys Cole (33), Beasley (24), George Foot (18) and Nathan Quinn with 16 as they steered the county town side home.

Dorchester will replace Charlton Down in Division Two.
