THE Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club men’s Sunday competition was a yellow ball Stableford off a shot-gun start and it attracted 54 entrants in three-man teams.

The yellow ball counts double points and all three scores count.

The winning team was that of Mike Savage (7), Steve Crabb (8) and Terry Cleal (17) scoring 146 points.

Runners-up were Kevin Payne (9), Phil Dowell (20) and Peter Marshall (10) with 145.

Taking third spot were Ken Stead (15), Bryan Holmes (16) and John Pacey (18) with 143.

Mike Chivers (15) won the midweek Stableford with 33 points.

Veterans’ Section

IN THE self-entry single division Stableford there were 43 entrants.

PJ Huggins (21) and Graham Topp (15) both came in leaders with 38 points each and, after countback, Huggins was declared the winner.

Following them came Ray Southcombe (13), Bryan Holmes (16) and Peter Marshall (10) all scoring 36 points but, after countback, they were placed in that order.

The veterans lost an away match versus Cricket St Thomas 4-2.

Ladies’ Section

THE Betty Rink Cup was played by the Bridport ladies, writes Lyn Jessop.

The winner of this flag competition was Janie Dowling finishing down the first fairway.

The runner-up was Anne Follett, finishing off her round just off the 18th green.

There was a good turnout for the Invitation Day, with 20 Bridport ladies with their guests from clubs far and wide.

The first prize went to Linda Alexander and her partner Jane Blackenbery with a commendable 40 points.

In second place with 37 points was Judy Waters and Jo Hadley closely followed in third place with 36 points, Sue Winkle and Rhose Lawes.

Marion Hurley and Gill Munro won the front nine prize with 19 points.

The back nine going to Nicky Stone and Dilys Grant, also with 19 points.
