WEYMOUTH are set to be hindered by two bans ahead of the Seasiders’ clash with Swanage in County Division One at Redlands tomorrow (1.30pm).

Skipper Harry Mitchell and Simon Browne have been handed respective two and one-game bans, with Mitchell receiving a further two matches suspended for 12 months.

Both suspensions relate to incidents in the one-wicket loss to Shillingstone in July.

However, during the disciplinary hearing at which both Seasiders unsuccessfully appealed against the bans, teenage batsman Dom Webb saw his one-game suspension rescinded.

Weymouth are waiting to comment on the decision pending the request of more information from the Dorset Cricket League Disciplinary Committee.

Regarding third-placed Swanage, Mitchell is seeking an improved batting display after a narrow four-wicket win chasing 123 in the reverse fixture.

He told Echosport: “They’re a good side, they’re up there in the table and when we played them they had four or five players out – we did as well.

“The wicket was tough to bat on but in that game we held our catches and put in a good bowling display, so you can’t take much away from us in that game – we were pretty good.

“Maybe we can improve on the batting this time, when we get in try and stay in for longer periods.

“There were a few false shots and trying to hit our way out of trouble last time.”

Webb will skipper the Seasiders in Mitchell and Browne’s absence, while Tom England, Paul Collins, James Almond, Dave Blackman, Jack Sapsworth could all return.
