CAPTAIN Luke Webb described as “a foundation to build on” Dorset’s solid start to the Unicorns Championship campaign.
Webb’s troops have so far recorded a drew at Shropshire before toiling for 20 wickets to see off Cheshire with a 174-run win at Chapel Gate last time out.
With 32 points from their opening two contests, Dorset sit third in Western Division heading into their three-day home clash with Herefordshire at Bashley, starting tomorrow (11am).
Assessing his side’s red-ball campaign, Webb told the Echo: “It’s been very positive so far. We picked up a draw in the first game and a win against Cheshire last time out, which was a very hard-fought win.
“But we have reminded everyone as a group that it’s just a foundation to build on. You need to keep improving and we will be looking to that Herefordshire game to put in another strong performance.
“If we do that, the results will continue to come.
“We have the ability to do well in the three-day competition and we have played well against two very good sides so far.
“In terms of qualifying for the final, it’s very hard to do because you have to win the division. You look no further than the next game.”
Visitors Herefordshire were beaten by an innings and seven runs against Berkshire in their season opener, before bouncing back to triumph by 32 runs against Devon earlier this month.
